My Report On This English Communication Project.
The topic
We have decided to present a communication project unique from any other members of the class. We chose to organize a solid 3 hours amusement time with people who may or may not share the same interest. This was decided in a few discussions from March 30th and onwards. However it was not decided until mid April that we decided to go on with the plan.
Discussing more through out the first halve of term 2, we divided the work load of each of us into a more equal proportion and set a date to the completion of them.
This is roughly how the work has been divided:

Intention.
There are many people
who enjoys to play video games not to waste time, but for
enjoyment. But also many people view these entertainment consoles
as a waste of resource and an useless invention. This
communication project is to communicate to those people who may
have a stubborn mind to accept these console inventions and to
let them understand who significant the invention may be on
people.
Hopefully,
after some of the examples and comments of the people surveyed
shown in this Homepage, people will respect each other's opinions
and to experience the thrills of being a part of the generation
of video console games.
Audience.
This project mainly focuses on
the surveyed people of between 15 to 21, where all share a common
interest in playing console games. However, the product of this
project is for audience who may wonder into this homepage with or
without any interest in console games and to show them the
excitement and enjoyment of console games.
Form Of Presentation
The initial plan
of presentation was just to present in on paper, but later
onwards, we have decided to put the presentation on to the web.
And the presentation of the event was performed in one of our own
house providing approvement from the family.
Resources Used.
The resources
chosen are based on two newly developed machines with 4 various
types of games. All resources are either owned or borrowed from
someone else, the purpose is to minimise the cost of this
non-profit project as much as possible. Other resources such as
food, will mainly come from Eugene and myself where most of the
expenditures will be covered from our own pockets. Otherwise
there will have a need for sponsorship from different contacts
that we know.

Being
partly addicted to computer and console games, I have decided to
arrange a presentation with my partner Eugene Tsiflitzis. This
project is focused on our interests making it a more pleasant
experience as well as developing our English communication skills
needed with the people arround the world. Not only it is an
interest of ours, it is our intention to relieve stress from the
audience that we have chosen from year 11 semester exams. This
has made it work extreamly well, where everyone forgot about the
pressure and the "work, work, work" atmosphere within
their minds. They were able to redirect their focus from work to
entertainment very easily and also having as much fun as
possible.
Summary Of work.
Work undertaken
in this communication project was given a lot of thought. We
faced many difficulties such as learning the whole concept of
renewing the look of the homepage. I started learning and using
the html language, language for making homepages, early this year
and it was then left with me to organize and maintain the
homepage. However, things doesn't go as smoothly as it could.
Firstly, on the day of our presentation 23/05/98 two of our guest
arrived one and a half hours late, making it an extreamly
difficult time for us while we had to rearrange th e events that
were planed to take place.
Because I have some experience in registering a host for our
homepage, it was quite easy for us to register a host for our
homepage. This was done less than 2 hours but however, due to
some malfunctions inside our host, we had to make changes fast
and effeciently. This was not noticed by my partner at first and
I made the decision to register another account late that night.
Luckly we saved all the information that we had developed in my
own computer, so it was just registering another account and
uploading the files into our account.
Homepage making is a time consuming job, especially when you want
to make it as good as possible. Because of the time that the
Communication Project should have taken around 20 hours, we had
to leave this homepage at this state.
Evaluation of audience response.
All the members of the people
invited thought this communication project is a bit success,
however because of the 2 audiences arriving later than the set
time made our organisation less successful than what it should
be. However people enjoyed the time we spend together extreamly
well, they gave their 100% concentration to this presentation and
also making it as humours as possible. We have also learned that
people who participated enjoyed it very much not just because it
was a 'game time' but also meeting friends and learning the
different properties of different console systems. I have also
learned that people who owns a console game tends to lean toward
the games or the system they have and making comments such as
"more N64 games are better" Johnny Chen.
What I've learnt.
One of the main things about the
communication project is learn new things from organizing
activities. I have become more familiarized with the html
language from what I previously known. This made me more
interested in making my own homepage and now currently finding
another host for my new homepage where I have put in the links
section in the homepage.
Being in a group to work on a large project like this is easier,
but when the other partner is not participating, it is like
working by your self and constantly bugging the partner to
finnish off a particular job. However, with my partner, these
things hardly happened since we gave our selves plenty of time
and both were responsible enough to determin what comes
first and what doesn't.
Acknowledgements.
I
specially like to thank Johnny Chen for supplying knowledge on
Nintendo64 as well as lending his personal console system and
Ronald Lee for supplying the Playsation system and games. With
out them, it would to be possilbe to have our presentation. I
would also like to thank my parents for allowing such event to
take place at my house and all the guests that were invited for
participation also bringing some snacks to support this
non-profit project. I would also like to thank Fortunecity for
supplying the webspace needed for the hosting of this homepage
where it was greatly appriciated.
Lastly, I would like to thank my partner, Eugene Tsiflitzis, for
making this communication as less difficult as possible and
sharing the work load evenly.
